Sound bridging and dialogue.

Friends: Chandler quits the gym.

Sound bridging is used to link two scenes or locations, or to let the audience know that the scene and setting are changing.

It is often accompanied by an ESTABLISHING SHOT

Sound: Voice Over/Narration

Is this type of sound diegetic or non- diegetic?

Voice Overs, or narration takes place outside the scene you are watching. The effects added to the sound are the CODE to let audiences know that this sound is not in the main scene and cannot be heard by all characters.

Use of sound in Dynasty

Deconstruct the sound in this BRILLIANT clip from Dynasty. Pull it apart and note which sound is diegetic or non- diegetic, and then state how each layer of sound combines to tell the audience how to feel.
